Worship Team -- Ushers
The greeters and ushers are usually the first people that a person meets. As
such, we ask you to pay attention for those people who might be visiting or who
are new. Being greeted by a friendly face and a pleasant hello sets the tone for
the worship experience here at King of Kings.
Being a usher is also a wonderful way to meet all of our members.
Instructions for 8 AM Ushers
- Please arrive at approximately 7:15 AM.
- Fill the coffee pot with water to the 50 cup level. Use two Styrofoam cups
of coffee grounds. Plug it into the outdoor socket under the window ledge and
put the pot on the ledge. Make sure the pot is on. Once filled the coffee pot
is quite heavy. You want to take it outside empty and fill it with pots of
water in place.
- Unlock the doors at both ends of the hallway using the hex key hanging on
the plaque with the kid's bags. Please unlock the organist's door by the organ
also.
- Turn on the Baptismal water fountain. The control is located in the wall
near the organ. Be careful not to turn it up too high or water may spray onto
the floor.
- Pass out bulletins and seat people (if necessary). Give a children's bag
and a children's bulletin to the children.
- Greet everyone as they enter. If someone needs help or is looking for
something, ask one of the greeters to escort them or help them. When possible,
the ushers should remain at the door and distribute the worship bulletins.
- Count all of the people and place the numbers on the attendance sheet.
They are located inside the podium by the door with the bulletins. Be certain
to count the children in the nursery and the family room.
- Please be seated in the back of the Church and enjoy the service. It is
helpful if you choose a place at the end of a row to be seated or you may
utilize the chairs in the back of the Church.
- Please keep yourself alert to anything unusual that is happening.
- Collect the offering and help with Holy Communion.
- Please leave the doors at the back of the Church closed until the
beginning of the closing hymn. Opening the doors too soon can allow noise from
outside or the narthex to interrupt the worship service.
- At the end of the service, collect the welcome sheets from the pews and
straighten out the books, etc. Put the welcome sheets on the counter in the
office.
- Straighten out the bulletins left by the parishioners on the podium.
- When the closing hymn is being sung, exit your row and stand with the
Pastor and the Ushers at the exit. If a visitor has a question, they are more
likely to ask you since you have already greeted them when they entered.
Thank You for Your Service to our Lord!
