It’s January—and the New Year. Can you believe it? So how do we get this New Year up and running? Let me suggest three things that will help you make a smooth transition from the old year to the new one.
Prayer. Begin the year with prayer, and make sure that prayer is a part of your life throughout the year. Prayer helps you stay in touch with God, and thus helps you keep your focus where it should be.
A plan. Rather than aimlessly lurching into the new year with no particular goals in mind, do some active thinking about what you’d like to achieve this year. Think about the person you’d like to grow into. Write down your thoughts, and keep then nearby, in a place where you can refer to them often.
A promise. The Bible is full of promises. Claim one of them as yours for 2018. Memorize it. Write it on a card and tape it to your mirror, to remind yourself every day to embrace God’s promise for your life in 2018.

PRAYER: Loving God, I thank you for your faithfulness in 2017. I am eager for the opportunities of 2018. May I be your faithful servant. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
